Some of the panels were very weak, very dirty, and had broken leads | ![WTRT SDL WTRT SDL](../images/img_1/sdlfr001.jpg) |
Each of the weak panels were removed from situ, carefully cleaned, and invisibly strengthened at the back with tiny saddle-bars soldered onto the leads. Blu-tac was used to temporarily hold the bars in place until they were re-installed within the room. | ![WTRT SDL WTRT SDL](../images/img_1/sdlfr002.jpg) |
About one third of the panels were removed and conserved in this way. All of the panels were carefully cleaned, removing 100 years of (mostly) nicotine from the surface. | ![WTRT SDL WTRT SDL](../images/img_1/sdlfr003.jpg) |

About one third of the panels were removed by Linda in 2018 for conservation | ![WTRT SDL WTRT SDL](../images/img_1/sdlfr005.jpg) |
The conserved panels once again look beautiful, clean and are stable for hopefully another 100 years | ![WTRT SDL WTRT SDL](../images/img_1/sdlfr006.jpg) |
